Future Streets 20×20

Oct 20 – Oct 20 at 10:30am–12pm
Center for Architecture, 536 LaGuardia Pl, New York, NY 10012
Organized by AIA New York

Join the AIANY Planning and Urban Design Committee for a special speed presentation event. Future Streets 20×20 will feature presentations focusing on urban street use and development.

In light of new technologies and shared economies, one of the city’s largest public assets—our streets—have taken center stage for rethinking and re-imagining. Future Streets 20×20 will open a conversation around the physical design, the activities that take place there, the users, and the policy frameworks of streets. The conversation will aim to foster more efficient, more valuable and more equitable models for configuration of these public assets, our city’s streets.

Schedule:
10:30am–12:00pm
Activity 1: Speed Presentations at the Center For Architecture
A series of speed presentations about what may be possible in the realm of our future streets. A diverse group of participants from advocacy organizations, educational institutions and other stakeholders, share their activities and ideas on ‘who’ gets to ‘own’ the future public realm, and by extension our future streets.

12:00pm–3:00pm Activity 2: Community Lunch on LaGuardia Place
LaGuardia Place will be car-free and open to pedestrians, cyclists, residents, students and any passers-by! All are welcome to join a community table that will span the entire length of a block. Participants can bring along their own food or pick up meals from local restaurants on the block or in the neighborhood.
